Un yanki piola
In the words of my friend Charlotte and her web, Salutations.
I think I've often written about how much I love the slang in this country. I feel like slang in north America is something that just the kids use, words like "hip", "dope", "banger" come to mind. However, the legends in Argentina of all sizes, ages, and church callings use the same good-natured slang, which I think is absolutely epic. Yesterday we were at the church to give beto the priesthood, and the second councilor in the branch (68 years old?) is talking about the missionaries and he says, "es un yanki piola" which is literally like saying "you're a dope yankee". Idk i thought it was the funniest thing
We are doing super well over here in Marcito de Ajito! I'm enjoying my time here, though I think 4 months are enough to start making anyone tired of seeing the same faces hahaha.
My companion is lots of fun, he had a decent amount of fame for not working but imma keep it real, we've been hitting the pavement over here. Having fun and working hard!
My good friend Beto got the Aaronic Priesthood yesterday, like 12 days after he got baptized and he is more excited than ever. Legend.
Zulema is doing well still, we had some really spiritual lessons this week so that was really really good.
Now we have a little princess named Amber!! She is 9 years old and she is so precious. Her older sisters are all members but her parents aren't because they're not married. We went yesterday to administer the sacrament and that was really a neat little experience—they are such a sweet family.
We were supposed to go make some good old 'chipa guasu' (Paraguayan... corn... cake??) with some really nice Paraguayans who live literally in Timbuktú but it fell through twice so that was a bummer. hopefully today we can though!
Ok time for the embarrassing part of the week...major rip is needed in the chat for this one y'all.
Side note: idk why I wrote this story so long, super sorry.
So I have no idea what tiramisu is. We always order pizza from this really good place and they have tiramisu on their menu but they had been out the past like 4 times we ordered pizza—but I really wanted to try it! Saturday comes, and we need some good old Italian pizza (homeboys are straight up from Italy, like don't speak Spanish) so where do we order from? You guessed it.Turns out on Saturday, finally, finally, after so much time waiting, they finally had tiramisu available. We order 1 pizza, and 1 thing of tiramisu. We didn't specify a flavor, so they gave us one that we just figure is chocolate. Pizza is delicious, and we're finishing up when I remember we have some dessert I had never tried before. I take a bite of my supposed chocolate tiramisu and get an unfamiliar flavor. I was like hm, gotta try more so I can pin what this is, and after a few bites it comes to me. I tell compi to eat some so he can confirm my worst fears, and it was true. They gave us flipping coffee tiramisu??????? Apparently I know nothing.
Tldr: I broke the word of wisdom. Luckily repentance exists!
Have an awesome week and don't drink or eat coffee like I did!!
