We went to the zoo last p day for some fun! haha. They had a bunch of real-life "wild" monkey's running around cuz the zoo is right next to monkey mountain so that was fun. And right now is the Dragon Boat Festival so we're gonna go and watch some boats shaped like dragons do some racing or something. Hopefully. haha
This week was like really pretty normal, as in nothing completely bizarre occurred. BUT, we did have three super cool lessons with three super cool new investigators! 2 of them were from referrals, and the other one was a self-contact which means he literally came up to us and was like "teach me the gospel." haha. So really workin' hard as you can see! haha it's pretty crazy how the Lord has been providing these investigators when it seems like everything WE do isn't yielding anything.
In a lesson with Sister Chen, the mormon.org referral, she just kept saying how the things we were teaching was what she thought it should be from her own study of the bible. YES!!! So so cool how it all comes back together because it's all the same Jesus Christ. "For behold, [the Book of Mormon] is written for the intent that ye may believe [the Bible]; and if ye believe [the Bible] ye will believe [the Book of Mormon] also;" (Mormon 7:9). Yeah, she definitely gets that. Her biggest hindrance is that her husband protests. He's actually Christian too. 3rd generation to be exact. The people here have such a thing for their ancestors...we're just praying that his heart can be softened.
Other investigators, since I feel like I don't talk about them enough, is Brother Cai! He would totally be baptized (he's basically a member of the ward already, comes to everything and all that) but for his smoking addiction!!! AAHHH!!! He's made crazy progress from where he started though. Proud of him and the changes seen in his character. We're really trying to help him see that repentance means he literally becomes a new being in Christ. Like, he can exercise his faith in Christ to the point of saying with confidence that he is NOT a smoker!! And ultimately it's gotta be revelation that HE gets from the Lord. His current baptismal goal is June 24th, so we're really trying to get him ready for that!
And then there's Brother Liu. He helps run the family business of cremating dead people. Super soft hearted. Really cool. The problem is that finding time to meet with him has been super hard, but he accepts the message well and says he's been reading the Book of Mormon every day and praying to know if it's true. So that's good!! haha.
These sweet lessons we've been having this week has reminded me of a Parley P. Pratt quote that goes something like, "When the Spirit of God is upon me, I think it matters but very little what I suffer, what I sacrificed -whether I secure the honor or dishonor of men, or where I die, if it so be that I can keep the faith, fight the good fight, and finish my course with joy." Really feeling like I've been an instrument in the Lord's hand makes any sort of negative thing just disappear. Kinda like how when Lehi had the tree of life dream, he was so focused on the Lord and other things that he didn't even notice that the river of water he saw was actually filthy (see 1 Nephi 15:26-27. Super cool principle!!). Ya gotta love it!!
Love you all! Have a great week!!
