Xihu, Taiwan

All the Above

Hey hey hey!!! Life's good here in Taiwan!

I forgot to say last week that for dinner at Bishop's we had the rare black chicken and they literally just pluck the feathers and throw the whole guy, head and all, in a pot to boil. Then we rip it apart to eat it! Haha just a new experience. Tastes super good!

Speaking of Bishop, he was trying to tell me he's constipated at church....haha! Lemme tell ya, culture differences. Haha. He tried to use Chinglish and funny actions to demonstrate. Definitely had to be there for that.

And speaking of having to be here for stuff, we had interviews with President and, as geeky as it sounds, this interview probably has to go down as a mission highlight so far. Hard to explain (that's why you had to be here) -but it was super sick. That's good enough.

When you go to the drink shop down the road to make some calls and a member is there and insists that you pick out a cake and drink for her to buy you. It's the greatest!

I went on exchanges with our zone leader, Elder Christensen in Xihu this week. Holy cow! Saw so many miracles and learned a TON. We went tracting and an old Ah-ma absolutely flipped out in Taiyu at us and shut the blinds and kept peeking out to see if we were gone yet. haha. Experiences. And Elder Christensen is seriously the happiest dude ever. Choose happy. You're more happy when you're happy.

One day we rode all the way out to the farthest secondary area we cover. That town literally translates to "Big city" but that's a trick cuz there was literally nothing there. haha but now we know!

I was thinking on the road to ErLin about how blessed I am to be a missionary, testifying of Jesus Christ, and to have these experiences. "All the Above" lyrics say "this is the ghetto that made me" and I'm pretty sure that true ghetto doesn't exist in Taiwan, and I'm not calling Xihu ghetto, but the point is: Xihu, investigators, random people, companions, and members are not just making me a better missionary but a better man. I was so overwhelmed by this thought I just started yelling out to the rice fields how much I love my mission. The things we go through in life are all ultimately to prepare us for Eternal Life -that is after all the Lord's work and glory. "All these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for they good. The Son of Man hath descended below them all. Art thou greater than he? Therefore, hold on the way...fear not what man can do, for God shall be with you forever and ever." (Check out D&C 121 and 122 for some serious pump up scriptures!)
