Holy literal FAM!!! Another week by. Too crazy. I'm having a harder and harder time keeping track of all the stuff we do. All I know for sure is that I finally had to retire my old pen. It probably could've kept going strong but I decided to take him out of his misery.
Other than that, I know for a fact we biked a mass load this week. I feel like I say that every week, but all those other weeks were nothing in comparison to this one. hahaha. We literally didn't spend a single day in Xihu. hahaha. We even biked out to the ocean (don't worry, it's still in our area) and saw the most gigantic daoist temple ever as well as some cool miracles! We found this super cool guy in a family mart and gave him the whole first lesson right there. He asked US if he could have a Book of Mormon. So yeah that was super cool.
Oh. Yeah. And my new companion! Elder Cook! Super cool dude. He just came from the big city in Taizhong to super rural Xihu, so the shock at first was a little tough for him. BUT, we're having fun. He wants to go out and work, so like what more could you ask? And our p-days are about to get next level fun. hahaha. I'm learning a lot from him. We were actually in the same spanish class in high school, so makes sense we'd be here in Taiwan speaking Chinese together. The Lord works in mysterious ways...
We went to dinner with a member whose husband works in China for Apple. I thought that was pretty cool. The whole family is moving over there in February. I heard whispers in the wind that the panda is slowly starting to hosh. So yeah that's also really cool.
We're also teaching these 3 kids that lived in Vietnam for most of their life. Elder Hanna and I knocked on the door, and we told the dad that we were representatives of Jesus Christ and he said "Come in! Let me get my kids!" And we were like "OOHHHH YEAH!!!!" hahaha. But turns out he didn't care at all. Just wanted to let his kids "see the world" by teaching them a little about Christianity and church. haha. These kids actually have a baptismal goal now so we'll see what happens! We also rode out to Samantha's house in the south tip of Pitou which is so far in the middle of nowhere. But it was fun. Her kids are the best! She's trusting us a lot and like opening up more, which is good. But I'm also realizing her progress is gonna take a lot of time. haha. But that's okay! The Lord's in charge.
We decided to try and get some contacting going on the basketball courts here at the park. There's some cool people there we talked to. So we'll see what happens with that. And none of our investigators came to church yesterday so we went to Sunday School with the young men and young women. I was having flashbacks!! It was like every Sunday for the last bajillion years! And the teacher was an RM so she actually stuck to a lesson and stuff. It was good and fun!
This week has actually been a SWEET little confidence booster for me. Elder Hanna had been running the show here, and I thought there was no way I could do this when he left, cuz Elder Cook doesn't know how to get around or who the people are and stuff. But I think it's somehow been alright! And I know it's definitely not because I know everything about this place or how to speak Chinese -it's cuz the Lord is here with us! This week I witnessed the fulfillment of His promise in D&C 84:88 "...I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up." I know this promise is true! And because of that, we are able to do things we wouldn't be able to do on our own. So cool. So true. The Lord is too good to us.
Well! I'm ssoooo excited to see you guys next week!!! Woo Hoo!! Have a very merry Christmas!
