This week was just another glorious week serving the Lord in His vineyard of Daya!! The New Year's madness ended with a bang and some sushi. It was great. By working with all the members so much lately, we really have been able to develop great bonds of trust with them and it's been great! Yesterday during sacrament meeting we got passed a note with a name, phone number and other information on it saying to call!! Referrals!!! That never happens! haha. So yeah, miracles!
Wow. This Wednesday I was surrounded by so much money it made me speechless. Monday night we found this less active 36 year old brother living at his mom's house named brother Lin. haha. That's actually the culture here. Different. Anyways we ended up going to his office Wednesday to meet with him and it was just so funny. It's this very professional place. He's got two assistants. It's still new year's so nobody else is there except the assistants. His office was this glass box in the middle of an open space, and by glass box I mean it had one way mirrors so he can see everybody else and nobody can see him. hahaha. We were led there by his assistant and then the door opened, and he was there in an Adidas track suit, wearing Jordan sandals, a Louis Vuitton shirt and a Rolex. And the chair he sat in literally looked like throne. hahahaha. Oh my goodness it was just such a crazy image/experience that made me super giddy for some reason. hahaha. We just went there to share the gospel with him. hahaha He was super nice to us though!! He felt like us finding him was part of the Lord's design because he's usually going to China and had just gotten back here for New Year's. He said he'd pray and start reading the Book of Mormon again, so we'll see.
Besides that, we've got some great investigators!! One just went up to Taibei for school. His name is Brother Yang. We call him "definitely now" because he used to be called "maybe later" when he was the sister's investigator. Catch my drift? Just kidding. The point is, he's totally getting baptized this month, so that's exciting. Also, we got a referral from Taibei named Sam that we met yesterday for the first time, and he's SWEET!!!! So yeah. There's others too. The work just continues to roll forth, of course.
Richard G. Scott, in the 2010 October conference, gave a talk called "The Transforming Power of Faith and Character" and it is so good!! Made me wish I would've listened to it more carefully when it was given. haha. Either way, he has a line in there that I've developed a very strong testimony of so far on my mission: "We become what we want to be by consistently being what we want to become each day." We can be whatever we want to be! So the question then is, what should we become? Jesus said in John 14:6 "...I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the father but by me." By consistently choosing to be Christ-like, we naturally become more like him. A "character woven by threads born from countless correct decisions."
