Extreme Makeover Home Edition
Dear friends, family, and others,How are you all? I hope that everything is going well in the country that you may be in. Things are great here in Argentina.
It has been such a week! Where do I begin? So, the ocean destroyed my camera.. But, luckily I found a missionary that is going home soon. He is going to sell me his camera for 80 dollars. So, no worries. =DÂ His camera is an excellent one, so I am lucky! Also, I was able to save the memory of my old camera and I didn't lose any photos. So, life keeps on going!
Elder Sosa got really sick, so I was with other missionaries all week. I was in the nearby city of Santa Teresita and also in Pinamar. I had good times working in other areas, and I even went to the richest city in the coast - Carilo. It is definitely the richest city I have ever seen in my life, apparently Messi himself has a house there. For those of you who don't know, Messi is pretty much the richest and most famous soccer player ever.
Saturday, I got to do some service. I helped a member build an addition to his house, and that was great times. It was cool to serve him and his family (The Quierco family.) They are great people and I enjoyed talking with him and some other members that came. At one point, I was watching one of the members play with a cat. He got bored and he thought no one was watching, so he started fighting the cat with his foot. The cat got really mad and started clawing at his leg violently, so he threw the cat into a giant barrel of water. I laughed pretty hard when he did that, and when he saw me he just winked. About half an hour later, the daughter came out of the house and asked about the wet cat. "Oh," he answered, "It was trying to climb that barrel and it fell in." I always have good times with these people.Â
Anyways, I want you all to know about diligence. Diligence is careful and persistent work or effort. But, in what should we have diligence? I like what it says in Doctrine and Covenants:
D&C 58: 27-28
27 Verily I say, men should be anxiously engaged in a good cause, and do many things of their own free will, and bring to pass much righteousness;
 28 For the power is in them, wherein they are agents unto themselves. And inasmuch as men do good they shall in nowise lose their reward.
Go find your own great thing to do! Do what God asks of you and then go and do something more. You got the power in you =) I love you all!
Hurrah for Israel!
-Elder Keeley
Additional information from letter to Mom and Dad:Things are going great here =) Sometimes, as I try my hardest to get closer to Christ, it gets hard. As you get close to someone so perfect, you see all your weaknesses. But, you can't let that get you down. You keep pushing forward and then He changes you! He doesn't change your situation all that often, but He always changes you!
The other week we had a broadcast in all of South America. A couple apostles spoke, the presidency of area spoke, and their wives too. They really drilled it into the members' ears the importance of Sabbath day observance. We need to be with our families Sunday, We need to go to church Sunday, we need to make Sunday different. It is a commandment of God! And commandments need to be non-negotiable.
