I am an Uncle... And Father
Dear friends, family, and America,Things are going well here in Argentina, a lot has changed. But before I get into that, I would like to congratulate Jared and Katie for having another child and welcome into the world - Owen Timothy Keeley! You are in great hands! I am so excited that everything went well with his birth, he is going to be amazing!
So, that answers the question why I put "I am an Uncle" ... but why a father?" Because in mission terms, when you train a new missionary you are called a father.. And that is what I am doing now!
I am now in Florencio Varela in an area called El Parque B, training an Elder named Elder Aguirre. I am just so excited to be here with him, he is such a great guy. He was born in Italy but grew up in Chile. He is very quiet, intelligent, and kind. He's a pretty serious guy, but I think that will change as I get to know him. I won't be his first companion, he had one for a month and a half before me, but I am going to end his training.
I will miss La Costa and San Bernardo, but I am excited to be here in Florencio Varela. The members here I have met are awesome, and there is a lot of work to be done! More details will be sent your way next week.. stay tuned.
Conference was this last weekend, and it was excellent. All of the leaders of this church live simple lives, they try to do one thing - carry out the will of God. I can testify that they are living apostles and excellent men. This is the church of Jesus Christ, restored again. My thought for all of you comes from President Uchtdorf. He said, "Do not make discipleship complicated." Try to live what Christ taught, that is what it comes down to. Treat others like you want to be treated, pray to God for the help you need, and keep on getting better every day! I love you all.
Hurrah for Israel!
-Elder Keeley
