Attack of the demon cats and a baptism
Yes, we had a baptism this Saturday. Annd...no pictures, sorry again. The elders all stole the chuchi cyber.
Anyways, Melani got baptized Saturday! She's the little sister of a member, and she's way excited for everything! She loves reading the Book of Mormon - which is really hard for her, because almost nobody in her family reads - and she loves learning more and more! She's such a sweetheart.
This week was really good, we went out a lot with the old ward mission leader and he showed us a lot of parts of our area that the other missionaries preferred not to work in, and that we had no idea were part of our area - a small problem. But, good this is that we found a lot of new people, which is good, because the work has definitely started to slow down. A cold wind has come over Ñemby, and everyone has begun to hide in their beds. I think it hit 65 yesterday....oh, so cold...(sarcasm). It's funny how in comparison to the other days here, this really has seemed really really cold. Huh.
Alright - the cats. I'm pretty sure I've talked about Mercedes - sweetest woman you'll ever meet, has many cats. Well, we went to go visit her the other day after lunch and she asked us "Hermanitas mias, you don't want to eat a little bit of this lunch I made, do you?"....of course, we do! (I'm a sucker for a good guilt trip) We sit down, we eat. She left her door open. And one by one, the cats rolled in. They hopped up on the mesa, they stared at us. 17 sets of eyes watching me eat = no bueno. Anita, the cat, kept trying to hop onto my plate. She would spring from different directions and attack. My reactions got really good. I finally finished my plate (when Ña mercedes turned her back, I dumped 6 pieces of meat on Hna. Mcdougal's plate, her payback for making me drink all the milk that Mauro likes giving us) and I leaned back, eating my pan. And I let my guard down for 3 seconds, and Anita sprung. She landed right into my lap, dug her claws into my thigh - right where I have a huge bruise - and latched on. I yelped, hopped up and (according to Mercedes and Hna. Mac) did the funniest dance in the world, trying to get this cat and its claws out of my thigh.
I was afraid Mercedes would fall over dead right there, she laughed so hard.
I suppose it was a little funny.
Anyways, that's pretty much how every visit goes with Ña Mercedes.
Bueno, I love you all! Hope everything's great; by the looks of the emails, all's well at home.
Be good, and until next week!
